Hot Fix or Not Hot Fix?
It's time to ask your opinion and have you help decide what we might add to eebeads.com. Hot Fix Swarovski rhinestone crystals...ever heard of them? Hot Fix crystals are flat rhinestones that are attached with a tool (that costs around $15.95) to fabric and other surfaces by heating up the special adhesive on the back. Some of the girls here think they'd be a good addition to our site, but I'm not so sure. So you tell me... Do you use them? Would you consider trying them if we got them? What would you attach the stones to? Send me an email at blog@eebeads.com or leave a comment below. Can't wait to read your opinions!

Hmmm...well, you did ask for a comment. I am sort of afraid I'll get flamed for this...but I think these look kind of "look what I found at Michael's." Not terrible...I have fun finding things at Michael's but I think they don't look as classy and nice as your products do.
ReplyDeleteJust my opinion...worth the paper it's printed on.
I think it'd be a good idea. I don't use them myself, but I know a lot of people that do. What is that picture supposed to be though?
ReplyDeleteAngelica...the picture is of some hot fix crystals.
ReplyDeleteI use them all the time on cards and paper crafts and I use my tool. I would love to see a variety at eebeads. They are a bit hard to find. I too purchased the ones at Michaels and the quality is different from brand to brand. And the ones I purchased from creative crystal are a lot better quality.
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say not. I think glued rhinestones on clothing, purses and bags are rather juvenile and just does not appeal to me. Also, I don't want to buy an expensive tool to use with just one kind of crystal. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteNot my thing but I see the appeal to the younger set. I'd like to see you carry montees. I'd like to make the bracelet in the Feb-Mar 2008 Beadwork but I'm having trouble finding the montees.
ReplyDeleteLots of people seem to use this type of craft product. I, for one, would not be interested in purchasing any. I don't do any beading on fabric, so would have no use for them.
ReplyDeleteI do not use them. They are available at my local Michael's store. I have no idea what I would put them on.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't use them, they are a bit too "crafty" and old lady for me.
ReplyDeleteCarolyn - I would say no. Most beaders want shiny things with holes :) - like montees or sew-on components. The only time I use the glue-on crystals is to embed them in resin when I make my own resin pendants and beads. I have not had any luck with the hot-fix lasting more than a couple of days without re-gluing them with a stronger glue.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to add my two cents worth on the flat crystals and the tie dye beads.
ReplyDeleteThe flat crystals are too unidimensional for me. I just prefer beads I can wire or string.
I, too, would have to say to nix the hot fix idea. I'd never use them, and I don't know anyone who would. What little experience I have with them, they fall off in a day at most. Not worth it.
