Here I come to you with a question... What is it you don't like about these beads? I'm stunned! I put them up on the site last Saturday and was just flabbergasted at the lack of sales for these beauties on Monday. I think they're amazing myself. Allen, my husband and tye dye junkie, picked out the 10 designs and when they arrived everyone oood and ahhhd over them. These little guys are made by hand in South Africa. The canes actually start out at about 8" in diameter and methodically made smaller to create the beads you get.
So do me a favor and take a look at them. Then send me an email to blog@eebeads.com or post a comment below and tell me what you think and why they didn't sell so well. Thank you!!!
I can see they're pretty but to me they look a little too hippie-dippy sixties. Too much like what a pre-teen might like to play with. That's probably because 1) I'm 53 years old and 2) I'm really all about the glass and some sparkle.
ReplyDeleteHi Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteFor me personally, I have never worked with clay beads or large tube beads. My brain freezes at the thought of trying to create something. My bead purchases have to scream "buy me" or I have to see something and have the perfect person in mind for the particular bead. I think they are just scary to me. But I do like the black and white swirly ones. The others are very pretty, and I am thinking I might have to step out of my (probably boring) safety zone and make a purchase of these pretties and unfreeze my brain.

I think these would be great for teen or pre-teen jewelry, or even in a lanyard for an ID badge. I would be more apt to use the animal prints in a jewelry design for an adult though.
ReplyDeleteHi Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteYes, they do remind me slightly of the sixties, but aren't they supposed to? In any case, I think they are beautiful and will definitely be placing a small order. I am fairly new to beading and not terribly sure how to incorporate these into a necklace or bracelet, but I'm going to figure it out! I love the vibrant colors! I don't know why they aren't selling and why wouldn't they work with "sparklies"?!!! This is the first time I've been to your store and I plan on it not being the last!
Just my two cents worth,
Mellan :)
Hi. I am not really into tie-dye that much though the pink ones would be great for something for my daughter. Though I do love the zebra and giraffe ones and I really like the flag ones....I might have to make something from those for this coming Fourth of July.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI think they are okay, when I see them they don't really speak to me in saying "oh wouldn't I be great if you put me with this bead or this book" all I keep hearing is "I'm a hippie." Which isn't a bad thing, but for me they ain't really my taste. I also have trouble with tube beads, I dunno I can't even make ideas with them, I think I just freeze up, although I do like the round black and white one. Not really sure what Id use it for but it's nice.
Well, payday is here and half of the ones I want are sold out! Someone must like them. I'm on the list to be notified when they are back in stock! I just hope it is very soon.
ReplyDeleteTake care and make it a fun day!

I like them! But with the mixture of colors I can think they might be hard to match with other beads. I would probably buy some and they would sit in my collection for a while until I suddenly find just the right thing to do with them.
ReplyDeleteActually, the second week they were up they did much better...go figure! Hehehe... Still not the response I expected. I reordered and some are still on backorder from my supplier, but never fear, we'll get them. Thanks for all the comments and feel free to keep them coming...lots of fun to read!
ReplyDeleteThe psychredelic beads are just too busy for me, and a little to hippy-ish. I do , however, like the animal print ones.
ReplyDeleteOne good comment that came to my email is the beads are too big...hmm...I didn't get it. But she explained that even large beads on the left wrist can interfere with typing on a keyboard. I thought that was pretty interesting and wanted to share. Keep those comments and emails coming!
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteI don't like polyclay, it feels just like plastic. The only one I could consider was the Zebraprinted one.
Best regards from Norway
